Farewell to Fleet, our brave little mate who was shot last October.
Fleet was brought to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital on Thursday 13 October 2011, with seven pellets littered throughout his body - one pellet lodged in his skull/nasal cavity, lower back and behind his ear, as well as one pellet in each limb.
After 2 months of treatment at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, the pellet lodged in Fleet's nose became severely infected. Despite strong antibiotic therapy and surgery to attempt its removal, Fleet was sadly unable to beat the infection, and passed away yesterday.
Vets and nurses would like to thank Fleet's supporters and well wishers from around the world, and urge any person with information regarding Fleet's attackers to please contact Crimestoppers.
